Dream on
This past week I had several friends graduate from college. While I attended their commencement ceremony, I noticed that people of all ages were graduating. It inspired me to see those more mature in age than the average college student receive their diplomas. It made me question to myself, "Can you ever be too old for college?" I do not think you can be too old to learn something new or to finish a degree, so the answer is no. C.S. Lewis inspired me with his quote to your right, and I believe he's on to something. So many of us, myself included, accomplish one dream or goal, but then begin to settle and live mundane lives. When did we stop dreaming and setting inspiring goals for ourselves?! At what age did we believe that we have to settle down and do what society tells us to? What is it inside of us that makes us think that dreams and goals are for the young people? I think that when we start to settle and stop dreaming and setting goals that we cease to truly live and be alive inside. The easy way in life is to settle, it takes true courage to fight the norm and be someone great. I challenge you today to dream a new dream or set a new goal, regardless of how big or small! Even if it takes a hundred years to fulfill your dream or goal, go do it!
